You could be forgiven for thinking that Britain was part of the USA - we'd be 'The Downpour State'. But in fact it looks more likely that we are part of France. The proof is that a section of the Tour De France is taking place in London. I went to see the spectacle in Hyde Park today. It was packed. They were doing the 'prologue' where individual cyclists set off every minute to sprint 8 km.
Some people were clearly cheating though - they drove round the race track with their bicycles on the roof rack.
There was a stand promoting Haribo sweets in French where they showered children with an 'explosion' of the sweets, putting the little darlings into an excited frenzy. But none of the sweets actually exploded. I don't think they even took any eyes out. But the sugar rush probably knocked out the pancreases of a few of the greediest.
